The ship was beautiful, clean and luxurious. The food was truly magnificent and the service was second to none all staff had smiling welcoming faces and wanted to make your cruises a pleasure, the only problem was it didn't quite come off. Starting with Entertainment: was good but how many times was our group of 4 to enter a quiz or other game to be the only contestants. Production shows were at the mid-range level - not great, but we've seen much worse. A couple of the individual entertainers were terrific especially Marco D'Angelo. On the good side, the actual Equinox theatre is brilliant! They had a "doo-wop" group called the Voice Males, who performed throughout the ship, but everytime they performed they sang the same songs! it became boring, so we looked forward to the night that announced they would be singing the songs of The Jersey Boys as this was our era, they sang two songs. I completly agree with the review by Brian Ayres. That an unfortunate aspect of this type of new cruise ship is that the vessels are designed specifically to pack as many paying guests as possible on board, which unfortunately, results in queues and lack of seating etc. For instance, don't expect access to sunbeds as it is a physical impossibility to provide enough to go round. Probably less than a third of passengers can expect a sunbed, and some of those are not in the sun. Consequently sunbeds are 'reserved' by book and towel very early in the morning. Didn't know books liked to sunbathe so much! Children: very large groups of Spanish speaking South Americans, kids playing Bingo screaming and shouting during the game, they saved seats in large numbers often telling adualts they couldn't sit down as the seats are for the family, the caller who insisted on playing very loud music as she called the numbers and prizes being won by children, in fact the Jackpot was won by a 12 year old. (They asked her name ,age and were she was from) Yes I totally agree with Brian the price of drinks, which verge on the ridiculous. How different to all other cruises we've been on. To sum up, if you like children of all ages running around, and the very young children crying, and pushchairs and prams, then you are half-way there with this cruise line. If you don't mind extortionate drinks prices then that's fine. If you like peace and quiet on a quiet corner of the deck to read a book and put the world to rights with a friend, then forget the Equinox. At times it like being back in my home town London.

As I intimated, it should be fabulous, it's just not quite there. Well done to the crew and staff of the Equinox especially Chris from Pompey and Eduardo from Chile and our lovely Anka who were at all times friendly, helpful, respectful, understanding, and at all times cheerful. Not so much for the Sommelier who knocked over the Ice bucket, hurting my leg and filling my new shoes with Ice cold water and Ice cubes.
