We give our five grandchildren the itinerary of their choice as a high school graduation present. Our youngest, who graduated in May, chose the Eastern Med. As a travel agent, I wanted to experience Celebrity's Solstice Class vessels. We weren't disappointed!
Embarkation was a breeze, and we were handed our choice of champagne, orange juice, or a mimosa. Since staterooms weren't ready, we used the opportunity to explore all of the public areas. The ship was spotless and extremely easy to navigate. Every crew member we encountered made eye contact and greeted us with a big smile. This was the case throughout our 11 days on board.
Our veranda stateroom easily accommodated the three of us. It was immaculate, and our room steward kept it that way. He was friendly and unobtrusive. Another reviewer commented on a shortage of hangers. We experienced the same situation, but all we had to do was ask, and voila - more hangers! We found only two issues with our stateroom. Both of these are design shortcomings and should be rectified on future builds and dry docks. The first was the fact that there was no light on the veranda! We've sailed over 40 cruises - all balconies - and this was the first time that there were no lights installed. We love to sit on the balcony in the evening and enjoy a good book - impossible in this case. The second is relatively minor, but there is no retractable "clothes line" in the bathroom. This is a no-brainer and a necessity for those who would like to hang a wet bathing suit, wash out "unmentionables", etc.
