We joined Amsterdam on a dull day in Seattle. Embarkation was tedious and took over an hour as being UK residents there was only 1 agent dealing with Non-US passengers! Once on the ship things ran smoothly, we had a pleasant cabin with plenty of storage space and our cabin stewards were excellent, always there whenever we needed anything. The ice bucket always had ice anytime of day or night, and our cabin was kept spotless. We had a problem in the bathroom with smells from the sewage system and the maintenance team did their best to address this with limited success. My husband also had many problems with pre-booked tuxedo hire (this has never been a problem before as he is of average size) but the resulting array of trousers and jackets produced some hilarious photographs!! The food in the Vista Dining Room was very good, and our waiting staff were again very cheerful, attentive and helpful. The ports of call and scenery were just amazing, we did several tours arranged privately prior to our cruise, the most spectacular being Misty Fiords Flight with Island Wings in Ketchikan the Yukon Bus and Rail tour with Chilcoot Charters in Skagway, and Harv & Marvs Whale watching in Juneau. The first 13 days of our cruise we had wonderful weather with clear visibility and cruising Glacier Bay and the Hubbard Glacier (which calved spectacularly) was the most amazing experience. The Park Rangers which embarked for these cruises were very informative and interesting. The last port of call was Victoria, Vancouver Island, the weather was appalling and we stayed in the ship having been there in good weather previously. We found ourselves to be one couple of abour 40 who were Alaska "virgins" some passenger being on their umpteenth visit, and most of them said they had never experienced such wonderful weather before. We hardly dare go again as it would be difficult to surpass our experiences on this cruise.

Verandah Suite

Cabin A

Our cabin was well placed in the ship, quiet, convenient to stairways and elevators. Good storage space, but small problem with sewage smells from the bathroom.
