2ND CRUISE WITH RCI - JUST AS GOOD AS THE 1ST

Sail Date: October 2008
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Barcelona

Few problems at check in at Barcelona, for some reason my daughter's details were not immediately accepted by their computer system. We thought it was sorted only to find that the card was denied by security at boarding and once again at the first port of call.

Little concerned that we would not like the inside cabin having previously had a balcony cabin on the Caribbean. The cabin was fine, perfectly adequate. Slept extremely well, in fact had difficulty waking in the morning due to the darkness of the cabin.

Voyager of the Seas was we we expected it to be having been on the Mariner previously, a sister ship. Lovely vessel, spotlessly clean.

Food in the main dining room and Windjammer was good. Waiters in the main dining room were excellent, Dominic had very good sense of humour.

Enjoyed the gym on board. Ice Show was excellent. Cruise Director, Mercedes, was good but preferred Graham Seymour on the Mariner.

The only time we More experienced service below the standard expected was at the information desk. They do their job! We had a problem with our key card on the last night which took 3 attempts to resolve. Not very good when attempting to get luggage out by the deadline.

Overall very good cruise. Less

Cabin review: Voyager of the Seas Interior Stateroom Deck 6

Inside cabin was adequate for 3. Daughter slept in bunk. Space for all our luggage. Shower always hot. Found it fine.

Port and Shore Excursions

Disappointed to find a charge to take us out of the port! Went into Livorno, bought a bus ticket to the railway station and a ticket for the train to Pisa. Easily organised. Once again raining! Arrived at Pisa and followed signs to Tower. Very interesting. Nice streets. Returned to ship in good time.

Good to find ship docked in town. Town rather dirty. Clothes shopping was very reasonable.

Rome was a good 1.5 hrs away from the port. We took the excursion to Rome as it was some distance away. It rained most of the day. Too short a time at the Colosseum, were not able to go inside, just wander around the perimeter. Very good visit to the Sistine Chapel. Very informative guide. Would have liked more time and better weather!

Nice little village/town. We roamed around the quayside, very pleasant. Did not want to spend long ashore as could not wait to get back on board the ship.
