Since we learned that the Caribbean princess had been retrofitted we decided to give it another try. We sailed it a few years ago and had a negative experience- the only one in our 6 cruises with Princess. Unfortunately the same issues continue to exist and it made this cruise as negative as the last on this ship.

There are several issues with this ship but the major one for us was the lack of air conditioning in our cabin. This was also the case on our last cruise and yet a different cabin than the last time. We were not the only passengers complaining about a lack of air conditioning on this ship. I understand we were also not the only ones that also never got it fixed for the entire 9 day cruise. Let me tell you- to travel to the Caribbean in July when the temperatures are scorching hot and not have air conditioning in your cabin, is not pleasant. Despite our frequent complaints and supposedly the engineer from the ventilation department "working on it", it remained hot. We were forced to keep our drapes closed all the time. We went to the Caribbean to see the ocean- not sit in a dark cabin. We were fortunate to have the cabin supervisor provide a fan which helped a bit. Both he and the front desk manager made an effort to help but they were low in the pecking order and had very little authority to do much. We were NOT offered a credit so I asked for it. What I got was an insulting measly sum offered by Princess head office in LA. Perhaps if they feel that a lack of air conditioning is worth so little, they should try living in a cabin in the sweltering heat and see just how much it would be worth to them! They knew about the problem before we got on board and yet still put us in the cabin. They also planned to put someone else in the cabin after we left. That shows a complete lack of respect for the passenger in my opinion. Shame on them.

The ship is old and shows it. There is rust evident. Carpet is frayed. The transition pieces between carpet and flooring is lifted in many places and a trip hazard. The bedspreads are frayed, faded and stained. The towels thread bear. The spa change room floor was wet and the showers were dirty and lacked shampoo and bath gel in the dispensers. The cabin balcony had paint splattered all over the floor and the furniture. The balcony furniture was filthy and was replaced after the first day on our trip. The pools and whirlpools had paint chipped off the bottoms of them and were not that clean. The bed was uncomfortable and as is the usual- no egg crate despite putting it in cruise personalizer. I have found that on every Princess voyage none of the requests made on cruise personalizer are ever done.
