We were really looking forward to our cruise on the Queen Victoria. We have cruised with Cunard on four other occasions. Unlike the other cruises we have taken we found the staff to be the worst we have had on any other cruise ship we have been on and we have done over forty cruises.
The reception on the ship was none existent and it just got worse from there on. No one smiled or acknowledged us hardly on the whole trip.
We went to dinner on the first night and waited forever to be served and when the food came it was average to say the least and the choice was limited. This was the only night we ate in the Britannia and after that we ate every meal in the Lido as did many other people. We have never done this on any other ship we have been on. The quality of the food in general was very poor. I have never tasted such tasteless prawns and tough steaks. You can also see other cutbacks. Was more like carnival than cunard.
Every port of call we made was a More maiden port and travel agents and other guests took over the ship on each occasion and we were meant to feel like second class citizens as the staff ignored us and looked after them. The worst was to come!!!
When we arrived in Liverpool it was a very wet day and we were late. We had been informed that HRH Camilla was coming on board for a visit and that there would be no one allowed on or off ship between 11.00am and 12.30. We arrived back at the port at 12.45 very wet and cold to be informed we were not allowed even inside the cruise terminal for security reasons and we left out in the rain with no cover yet press and other officials were allowed through. You will understand this was very distressing and we were only allowed through at 1.45 p.m. by which time we were soaked through and very upset. Then to rub salt on the wound, as we were waiting to go up the gangway we were huddled under a canopy to keep warm until they were set up when out of the other gangway came the guests and press and they took the canopy of us to put over the other gangway. This almost caused a mutiny.
The televisions in the rooms are not suitable. You have to stand up to see the picture properly. If you sit on the bed or settee it goes all dark and is hard to view. The internal messaging system did not work so we could not send our friends messages when we got back on. The shower heat regulator was not working. We told them that it was either cold or red hot and burnt so they came in and turned it down??? I called them again to say that it was not working but they didn't get it repaired all trip. The drink dispensers were always broken and the ice machine did not work all trip.
Another really annoying thing was every time we went to our cabin the rubbish bin was left outside and dirty laundry. The hoover was a permanent fixture in the hall.

Cabin review: BC4143 Balcony
Cabin set out good. Balcony was good size and in good position. Only problem it was opposite where they kept linen and work station so every time we came out of room there was rubbish, dirty washing and a hoover.Read All Balcony (BC) Reviews >>
