We took this cruise with our extended family of 17 people, ages 7-71, in honor of my parents' 50th anniversary. We had a total of 7 cabins: 4 balcony, 2 interior, and 1 porthole. Overall, we were very impressed with the ship, the cabins, the staff and the amenities. The ship is VERY large; my oldest son said, "It feels like this ship is about 30% longer than it needs to be!" We previously sailed on the Carnival Fantasy out of New Orleans and were a little concerned that the crowd would be boisterous again, but they were relatively subdued on this cruise - lots of families and older folks. The Legend's dEcor was very gaudy, outdated and run down, but the ship was very clean and by the end of the week, we kind of got used to the decor.

Based on recommendations, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Rocky Point the night before, to take advantage of their "cruise special": A room with free hot breakfast, shuttle to / from the cruise terminal, and free parking for the week. The hotel was only $99/night and had a nice pool with a view of Tampa Bay. Embarkation was a long and hot process, although we got to the cruise terminal fairly late, about 1:30. (My aunt, who lives in Tampa, had us all over that morning for a bon voyage brunch.)

Speaking of Bon Voyage, we called ahead and had a liter of gin delivered to our cabin for $40, and brought on our own small bottles of tonic water, as well as four 12-packs of Diet Coke. We also carried on several bottles of wine. With those beverages in hand, we were able to purchase very few drinks on board.

Small balcony, but great location - two decks up for the buffet and pool, and 4 decks straight down to the main restaurant. Very quiet.
