REALLY GREAT..except for the rough seas 1st night out
This was a great trip...best food we have ever ever had on a cruise and really kind gracious and polite employees everywhere, all who really went out of their ways for us, especially for my mom who used a walker.We arrived at the not so fancy terminal around 11:15 really surprised to see tons and tons of people already checking in.It was really hectic on the sidewalk in front while trying to find a porter which we did and alittle tricky to get wheelchair assistance but we did and then it was a fast fast check in. We were taken right to our deck as we entered to drop off some carry ons to our cabin, had lunch then took a walk around then nicely surprised to find all our luggage in the cabins by 1 30 or 2 I'd say. We think we were alittle too towards the front as the 1st 2 nights it felt like we were on a surfboard due to rough seas, so we'd hesitate to depart from SF again, it was bad..We had to request a different room attendant about 4 days out as we just werent getting the cleanliness and attention we thought it should be,then it was great.
We had 8 pm seating for dinner and BE AWARE the 1ST is at 5:30 NOT 6:15 as advertised.Matrie d really helpful in getting us a table that worked for us and the waiter and assistant just were beyond being great.Loved them and the food. We were surprised there were not more self serve hand disinfectant items in front of the dning rooms and restaurants.
The ship had no bad "sewer smells" anywhere and was clean. I asked an employee what that was all about on prior reviews and was told people flushed items down toilets they were warned not to and so the problems happend.If everyone would pay attention to instructions it'd not occur.
The outdoor movie concept is nice but not for an Alaska cruise as it was always too cold to be out there and too bad as there were alot of good films playing while the soso ones were inside. Not enough good events on sea days, our only complaint. Larry at the piano is hilarious and always had huge crowds once the word got out, shows ok for older generation..spa nice.smoke relaly heavy in casino areas by the way and disco .
disembarkation organized and fast..ps we wish other cruisers would be more considerate in early hours and late by not allowing their kids to run late at night down hallways, or themselves to be yelling loudly or running loud in hallways or slam doors...or talk so loud to room service waiters when other people sleeping,but was a great trip!
