The Sun is due for refurbishment soon but can by no means be described as shabby. The atrium is multi levelled with panoramic lifts which is very pretty. The spa is smaller than on the Jewel class ships and lacks the relaxation area with lounge chairs and jacuzzi and floor length windows to gaze out at sea -a shame as would have been a boon on the first few cool days. The sauna and steam room are free to use for guests and they regularly had specials reducing the treatment costs
Freestyle dining suits us-we're not "foodies" so did not try any of the surcharge restaurants .we found the variety of food and venues fine.Drinks are expensive -we took the wine package which gave a 20% discount -the main advantage was once the bottle was opened you could take the remainder around the ship with you including to your cabin for a drink on the balcony
We had a cruise critic meet and greet the first sea day which was good to put face to names. Thanks to Patty our organiser she made sure the teenagers/young adults broke away to form their own group which helped to break the ice.As a result of that our 18 year old daughter joined up with 2 other girls the same age who hit Dazzles night club each night, met lots of new friends she now has as facebook contacts and occasionally returned to the cabin before dawn!
