Me and my family just returned from a 7 day Eastern Carribean vacation embarking from Charleston, Sc. OUr trip was supposse to take us to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay, and Nassau, BAhamas. The first day was a little confusing starting with the obstacle course set up in the parking lot. The cones were barely spread out far enough to fit a car through and by the way security motioned for us to move it seemed he wanted us to drive 100 mph. This was the first time we actually drove ourself to port being in past we took advantage of the park and cruise packages offered in hotels. Parking was 105.00 and I liked the fact you parked in a big open warehouse and the doors were shut to keep drifters from breaking into the cars. We were shuttled to the ship, and when we were at check in it was a breeze and was on the ship in less than 15 minutes, and this was at peak check in time. Our rooms were not ready so we made our way up to Lido deck to have lunch, the lines were long and it took a while to get your food. Take advantage of the monogolian grill it beats eating Hamburgers and Hot Dogs everyday. Our rooms were ready at 1:30 and luggage was already arriving. I will grade our experience for A-F on each of the offerings the boat had.
Staterooms - I give the rooms a "A". My daughter had a bed that was like a bunkbed and she enjoyed that. My wife and I had a really comfrontable bed and the room had a flat screen TV. The channels became limited the further out to sea you went and 2 channels played the same movies throughout the day and each day they changed.
Dining - I give the whole food experience a "B". We enjoyed hassle free dining for breakfast and lunch in the celebration dining rooms. It was quieter and they served you, so no long lines. The options were better than the buffett plus how many days can a person eat a hamburger. Breakfast had choices like Eggs Benedict, omelets, Turkey bacon, and chicken sausage plus a variety of juices that you couldnt get at the buffett. Lunch had seasfood salads, calamari, sandwiches, etc... and it was 3 courses. The food at the buffett was aweful compared to waht was being served in the dining room. Check the menu at the entrance each day and than decide on whats best for you. Im not a person that likes crowds and noise so this worked better for me.
We were on main deck in the aft (rear) of the boat.Cabin was smalll with two closets and a dresser drawers. We had plenty of room to walk around but it was impossible after turn down service because the pullman bed took up some walking room, especally if you slept next to the window. Bathroom samll and had two halogen bulbs for lights. the shower was good but the sinks never put out cold water. When the boat slowed to port the bilge pumps rattled along the heavy vibration form the boat made it impossible to sleep on port days. Plus your on a cruise your not in your room long. so the size of the room doesnt matter to me.
