Coral Princess Panama/Coastal Cruise Review

Background

Val and I had dreamed about this cruise for some time, adding it to our must-do list some years ago. This was a repositioning cruise which meant that the normal two-week Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Los Angeles (LA) full transit cruise would not turn around but instead continue on a new cruise to Vancouver, to start its four-month Alaska season. We did not do our normal winter break cruise to the Caribbean so this was a long wait for this 19 days onboard; was it worth it? Read on........

Cabin Review

Cabin AB

Room is well positioned, close to the starboard forward side of the ship, near stairs and elevators. Room is spacious, bed is reasonably comfortable. Nice large bathroom with tub, shower, sink and toilet, lots of nooks and crannies. The built-in closet has lots of shelves, a safe (will not hold a laptop), and a large closet with several wooden hangers. Beside the bed are two night tables and several remote switches for the lighting controls; this is handy at night to use the bathroom. There is a digital wall-mount thermostat for the temperature control; it was sometimes difficult to regulate. One can use the vanity/desk for both dressing as well as notes, computer work, etc., and it is easy for someone to get by this area to go to the sitting area, which has a sofa bed, a chair and small table, or the balcony. There is a large centre built-in holding two small TV's, fridge, shelving, as well as two additional 110 v outlets. The balcony is somewhat small and it is not covered so there is no privacy from staterooms above, and it is easy for nosy neighbours to peer around a balcony divider. All in all, well worth paying extra to get a 'super-sized' balcony room.
