Decided to cruise to Bermuda for the first time. I have cruised about eleven times on RCL, Costa, Celebrity and Hal (Westerdam). Booked an obstructed ocean guarantee and was upped to regular window on deck A. Not a bad upgrade. To others who are bothered by noise just get some ear plugs. Check-in was a breeze. Just mentioned Mariner member and cut the entire line. Btw I am 48 and my uncle 72. The room was large and decent, but the windows need to be replaced ASAP. Went up to Lido for some lunch. The lettuce was soaking wet. I guess the spin dryer was broken and stayed that way for the week. On the topic of food there was no hearts of palm anywhere on the ship! Thats a first. Since we keep a special diet we ordered fish frequently and boy have they cut back. No sea bass, tilapia or tuna on the menu ever. I was able to get a seared tuna special order once. Salmon was plentiful as well as some whitefishes. The ship was ok, but broken elevators had people making jokes. The pool areas need updating ASAP. That whatever pool in the rear of the ship is losing tiles at a very rapid rate. The carpet leading to this pool on the left side is totally worn. I gasped at this sight. People were very nice and diversified in ages with plenty of kids giving the cruise a younger feel. Bermuda was gorgeous even though we had some rainy periods. Plenty to do for the few days. Shows were ok, comedian made us laugh alot. Fitness area so so, but staff is very good. The views sailing out of Bermuda were phenomenal. Be outside for this!! All in all a nice relaxing trip to beautiful Bermuda. Would i sail Veendam again?? Only if they update it some more.
