My family and I (my daughter is five) just returned from this cruise on Sunday and overall had a decent time. You can expect aggressive sales pitches for everything from walking bartenders selling drinks to tour packages for Our Lucaya. They will highly exaggerate the costs of taxis while pushing their package. Taxis right at the Freeport Port are $5.00 for a one-way to Our Lucaya. My family not wanting to do the tourist thing and be with masses of people like we were on the ship paid $75.00 for a car rental (they will deduct $250.00 prior but refund upon return), also right at the Port, so that we could go to Gold Rock Beach at Lucaya National Park. Even a taxi quoted us a price of $35.00 per person round trip and they would wait for us and take us back. Since we were a family of five the rental car was the least expensive transportation for us. It was an adventure and I would suggest that if you take this route, to not stress about getting lost, which you surely will. It is for the more adventurous but is definitely worth it!
The ship was crowded, loud music till late in the night, small rooms, half the elevators were not working and the "sales pitches" - again over the loud speaker till late in the night. The food was decent and for the most part is buffet style. We ate at the Rio the first night and had a nice selection. Our second night was at the Crystal Room and it was very nice, very good food, and very nice wait staff.
We had no problems checking in or boarding. There apparently was a mandatory meeting for all passengers but it turned out to be more sales pitches. The muster drill was more for them being able to say they had it. When we were getting ready to disembark, we noticed that our luggage was still outside our cabins so at 8:30 we grabbed our luggage and disembarked with all passengers carrying their own luggage - very easy and quick.
This is not a luxury cruise line but they do offer good food and good entertainment at a reasonable price. Overall, if you know what to expect you won't be disappointed.
