Dream was just too big!

Sail Date: June 2010
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

This was our first vacation without our kids in 6 years and we were really looking forward to checking out Carnival's newest, biggest ship. Big may be great for some people but we will be sticking to smaller ships from here on out. People everywhere, you could hardly walk the decks and the lines at the buffet were 50 people long for breakfast every morning. I have never seen that on any of the other cruises I have been on.

We definitely appreciated the extra food choices, the burritos made to order were great and we did try the pasta restaurant and that was ok. We had the "Dine on your own time" for dinner every night and were given our own table for 2 each night we asked and were able to keep the same wait staff also. They seemed a little unorganized but I think that might be due to people being seated in their area at all different times not all at the same time as is in the rest of the dining room.

As one other reviewer committed, the cruise director and his staff More was the worst we have had on our cruises. They were very unorganized, and just seemed like they didn't want to be there. They did not talk or mingle with the guests and they had no personality at all. I had thought on their biggest ship, they would have their best people, not so. The 2 shows we saw were not the best, just ok. The best thing that the Dream has going for them is their Comedy Club. They had comics 4 out of the 7 nights and those are the shows we attended. If you go on this ship, see Michael Macy, he is the best comic I have seen in a long time.

We spend most of our time on the ship on sea days on the Serenity Adults Only Deck-this was an amazing place, so perfect, especially since we had left our kids at home but there were thousands running around the boat. My husband and I both felt that due to the size of the ship, they really lost a lot of the person service we had come to expect on a Carnival ship. This may be perfect for some, but we are planning another cruise with our kids for next year and we will choose a smaller Carnival ship for that. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Dream Interior Verandah 8307

Cabin 8307 was nice and right in the middle of the ship. Unfortuneately due to the ships size, we could never remember which end of the boat was which from our cabin. No other complaints.

Port and Shore Excursions

Liked Port Canaveral, very easy to find and they are super organized. Did not take us long at all to get on the ship or to get off when we disembarked.

Loved St Thomas and would definitely go back.
