Just returned from the Fantasy. I cruised with a group of girlfriends while our husbands had their annual Pinehurst golf trip. Having sailed over 20 times - I really had no high expectations - just wanted a fun get away. The Port of Charleston is so handy - I hope the "scheduled improvements by 2012" really happen. Let's just say there is a LOT of room for improvement. I arrived at 11:30 and was on the ship by noon.....my friends were a 1/2 hour behind me - but took over three hours to go through the process. I made new friends waiting in the Atrium Bar waiting for them to board (and discovered a great new drink..."Kiss on the LIPS"...(x3). The Muster Drill was unorganized - honestly - had the ship gone down - most passengers would have been clueless as to what to do....and most were first time cruisers.

The have refurbished the Fantasy.....but after sailing so many of the new ships - I would not/could not suggest this cruise to anyone other than first time cruisers - or those who want an easy vacation (although not cheap - I've sailed many 7 night cruises with a balcony cheaper than this 5 night outside cost). I miss having a balcony - and will never sail without one again unless it's a FREE cruise. The Fantasy does not have many options for a balcony - unlike the newer ships.

Casino & Bar service was good. Cabin and Food service was below average - at best.....and dining room service was very slow. Food quality - was - OK - but again...nothing like the quality on Princess, HAL, or even other Carnival ships. The chocolate melting cake was amazing though.
