A little background information: We were a family of 16 going on this cruise to celebrate my parent's 50th Anniversary. Ages ranged from 9 to 76. We had balcony staterooms for my parents and each of the 4 children and 2 inside staterooms for overflow family. Our cruise was northbound June 12-19.
Flights: The majority of us met up in Chicago and flew to Vancouver the together the day before the cruise. What a hoot being on a plane together.
Vancouver Lodging: We chose the Vancouver Days Inn Downtown because of price and location. We took the Skytrain to downtown and walked to the hotel. The hotel is reminiscent of European hotels with small rooms but the beds were super comfy and very clean. We had rooms not facing Pender Street which helped lower the noise level. The elevator is tiny and slow but we didn't mind waiting as we had lots to talk about. We had various room configurations ranging from 1 queen to 2 rooms suites. Prices ran from $150-179 US. They have a free shuttle to the dock but walked instead the next day because of the close proximity and a beautiful day.
A very nice stateroom. Good sized closet, space under bed for suitcases, desk & 2 chairs. Closet with programmable safe. Shower. Plenty of room for 2 people. Nice balcony position (fully covered) by balcony above and large eave of the ship - nice during rainy, misty days...could still use the balcony!
