Celebrity Eclipse out of Southampton
Our first view of the Celebrity Eclipse was favourable, this was enhanced by the speed and efficiency in boarding, which included being handed a welcome champagne drink upon entry
Disembarkation was very efficient and easy
The ship is very clean and very modern (as would be expected for a new ship) the staff on board were all very friendly and very efficient.
The food on board was very good and the speciality restaurants were excellent, though having to pay approximately 35 dollars per head to enter - was we thought, somewhat expensive! One of the restaurants was not so much of a dining experience but more of a psychedelic experience and well worth dining there.
Casual dining in the buffet restaurant was, at times, very fraught when everyone on board appeared to want to be there at the same time, giving rise to difficulty obtaining a seat and table. Another irritation was that most of the time the >Dining Plates= were cold (not even warm) Hot fried eggs on a cold plate is not very appertaining or enjoyable for example.
Entertainment throughout the day was more comprehensive than other cruises we have been on and we thought the evening entertainment was somewhat mediocre.
There are basically two dance floors onboard with very good live music, however the main evening ballroom dancing was at the bottom of the Atrium and on a quite small floor and to dance, one had not only to avoid colliding with other dancers but with other passengers wanting to stand on the same floor and take photographs of their friends and relatives descending the Atrium staircase also people making their way to the restaurant
Finally, whilst everything on board is in dollars, the cost of drinks on board we thought was too expensive.
