My family (Mom (41), Dad (43), Me (15), my sister, Tracy (13) have, for the last 3 years, gone to a wonderful resort in Hawley, Pennsylvania called Woodloch Pines. It is often referred to as a "cruise on land." There is non-stop activity there from 9 in the morning to 3 in the morning there's stuff going on. It is the best vacation I've been on. I would've liked to go back there again this year, but my sister has always wanted to go to Disney. I also have always wanted to go on an actual cruise especially since my parents, who also loved Woodloch had said their cruise on the Norway in 1992 was just as much fun as Woodloch.

Our 3-night stay in Disney was fun. They are certainly the best theme parks I've been to and I am glad we went there, but I was ready to leave after 3 days.

The cruise was another story. I, along with my mother, planned this trip and everything from Disney said it was a cruise for all ages. This is a joke. Teens could go to Common Grounds during the day and do very little. Many of the activities that they planned didn't even occur or were something I could do at my house with my friends. Sports trivia consisted of having a teen counselor read about 20 sports questions in which we wrote the answers on paper. If you've been to a good resort or cruise you know that normally sports trivia would be a much more exciting affair. Hey, but that's not really a big deal. The problem is often when sports trivia or movie trivia or another activity is scheduled it doesn't occur. I found some of the teen counselors fun, but many seemed plain lazy and thought that being a counselor meant babysitting. Damien, in particular, would often just sit there watching that nothing happened. Unlike Woodloch Pines where there was non-stop activities, on the Disney cruise, there was one or two fun things a day spread in with a lot of down time. My other major problem with the Disney cruise was the lack of accessibility to food. I would've bought food sometimes at midnight, but I couldn't do that if I wanted to. Yes, they do have 24-hour free room service. However, every time I called it was busy. I called for 15 minutes straight every night at midnight and could not get through. I also called once at 3 in the afternoon for 10 minutes and couldn't get through. Once I did get through after calling for 20 minutes straight at 11am the fourth morning. Teens were not the only ones disappointed on the cruise so were adults. My parents could do little to nothing on the cruise. Pretty much they could listen to music in a classy piano bar or go to the improv comedy club, but this activity was from 8pm to I think 11pm however it may have been midnight. They could also go dancing, but you must remember this stuff is for a 3 hour span. What are they supposed to do the rest of the day? You'd be hard pressed to find anything to do on the ship after midnight. You want to play basketball on the ship. That's a great idea, I agree. Guess what, you cannot play while the Vista spa is open because it disturbs the people in the spa The Vista Spa is open from 8am to 4pm. I am guessing on that, but it was a big chunk of the day. Ok, no basketball. Let's go swimming. Not gonna happen if you are teen. The family pool is all children jumping from every end of the pool. I have 26 cousins most 23 who are younger then me and they all live nearby and often come in our pool. You think I would be used to something like that. There is no way anyone could be used to that. There was, no joke, at least 50 kids in a pool that is ridiculously small all jumping in at once. Our family could not just take a relaxing dip in the pool together. However adults do have there own pool which, I'm sure is great, but that doesn't help me. The Magic is not all bad. The food is great and the ship is unbelievable. You feel like you're on the Titanic. The food is great, and our foodservers were some of the nicest people I've ever met. Disney Dreams is a great show. Hercules is fair; however, avoid Voyage of the Ghost Ship I don't think I've ever seen a more predictable and boring show. I had a blast in the Bahamas. Nassau was great and the Teen Junkanoo cruise was so much fun. The Wild Side, though is a waste of time, although I had a great time kayaking. Castaway Cay is beautiful, but there is once again nothing to do there. If you have kids under 12 and you just want to get away from them on your vacation, then the Disney Magic is a great idea. The kids looked like they all were having a blast. I'm sure no children will want to be with there parents on this trip. However, I would strongly discourage going on this trip if you are a teen or an adult. This is aggravating because Disney says its a cruise for all ages, not just kids. If you've already booked a cruise and can't get out of it, don't worry, you'll have some fun moments. If you can get out of it, I would. Check out some other cruises and if you want any information on Woodloch Pines. I would be thrilled to give it to you. Just email me at Da10isPro@juno.com
