Simply the BEST!!!

Sail Date: June 2010
Destination: Alaska
Embarkation: Seattle

My husband and I have cruised over 30 times on many cruise lines, but this was the first time in a full suite. We decided to return to Alaska about a month prior to departure and had booked a mini-suite that we were very familiar with. We have cruised Alaska 3 times in 3 years and knew this cruise would be a relaxing trip, where we could do as much or as little as we wanted since we had been to all the ports. A week prior to leaving we were offered an upgrade promotion and decided to splurge. This cruise will go down in our books as a dream come true.

A full suite entitles you so many additonal ammenties. I'm afraid we have been spoiled beyond belief. We dressed for the first formal dinner and had a boutineere and small corsage waiting for us in our room before we left. The last formal night we decided last minute not to dress up, we had lobster and beef wellington served in our room. We did anytime dining for 3 dinners. Totally enjoyed Sabatini's for dinner on one night. We More did several lunches at the pizza bar around the pool. We took advantage of the double wide balcony and did most of our viewing from our room's veranda, although we did go up top for the glacier viewing. The room itself was about 3 times the size of a regular room.

The weather was the best we have had on any cruise. People actually laying by the pool on several days. The glacier day was fabulous and the naturalist made it even better with his narration. Alaska has such a different feel with all the natural beauty and tranquility. Princess just refurbished and remodeled this ship and the additions are beautiful.

More families on this Alaska cruise than ones in the past, and we enjoyed seeing the variety of age groups. We are happy and pleased with our entire trip and ship, but wish Victoria and Ketchikan stops had more time in port. Staff seemed happy which means better service to passengers.

We are booked on the Celebrity Soltice in October and I am already looking to see what is available in Alaska next summer 2011. Princess did a fabulous job and we will be returning. We're hooked on Alaska! Less

Cabin review: Golden Princess Suite with Balcony Baja Deck

Port and Shore Excursions

Since we have done the Alaska trip 3 times in 3 years we have done many of the excursions. We walked around the city and returned to our suite to enjoy our view and sunshine from our balcony. The float planes took off and landed right near our ship. Our favorite excursion in Juneau is Float plane over glaciers and lunch at Taku lodge. Expensive but well worth the money.

Don't understand why hours are so limited in Ketchikan. If you plan on sleeping in forget trying an excursion. We left port at 1pm.

Arrived a day ahead of cruise and stayed at Fairmont Hotel. Had a little drizzle late Friday afternoon, awoke to sunhine on Saturday, that would follow us the entire trip. Hotel was lovely and in a great location. If you like oysters, the restaurant in house has a great happy hour, $1 per oyster. People were ordering a dozen at a time. Easy walk to Pike's Market and best macaroni and cheese in the world at Beecher's Cheese across the street from market. What a great city, so clean and people are so kind.

Our departure from Seattle was beautiful, with a gorgous skyline view including the space needle.

Disembarkation was a breeze. Our time was 8:40, ran just a little later, but we were at SEA, checked in and ready to leave at 10 am. No wait for taxi to the airport. We left Seattle with the sun still shining!!

Skagway is our favorite port due to it size and quant feel. Train ride and historical tour great. Sunshine, Sunshine, Sunshine!!

Since we have been here before, we decided to just relax on board and watch fireworks from the ship. We were in port from 7pm to midnight. Again, only criticism is time allotted in some of the ports.
