My cruise on the Azamara Quest from Athens to Istanbul was truly fabulous. It was a wonderful mix between the serenity of the ship and the exciting travel in fascinating ports.

The ship was extremely well run. Boarding was very efficient and we were able to board at 11AM and have lunch immediately. We entered each port early in the AM exactly on time and departed late every evening giving us plenty of time to enjoy each port and have a very full day in each location. Ship excursions were almost always led by terrific guides in groups of about 15 passengers. The excursions were almost always run very efficiently and were reasonably priced. Also available prior to leaving the ship was a local guide who would explain many fun things to do in each port without an excursion and would explain how to get to a desired destination in the port.

The small size of the ship and the wonderful captain and staff gave the ship a very friendly and homey feel. The captain mingled with the passengers. The staff were from many different countries and were all very eager to discuss their lives in their native countries in excellent English. Service at meals and in the rooms was uniformly excellent. Thus passengers felt pampered and relaxed as they participated in the daily life and extremely friendly atmosphere on the ship. Food was very good and the service was elegant but efficient when needed. Outdoor buffets for dinner on several nights was great. The new cruise director was fabulous and quite talented. Jon Flemming who lectured on the history and culture of each area we visited was also very informative while being very entertaining.
