Flew into Seattle the night before and stayed one day after-nice to see the city and not have to worry about the connections. Stayed at Best Western Airport Executel=reasonable and VERY accomodating. Service was wonderful and had free airport shuttle and breakfast. Also had a dining room which we used after arriving late and hungry. OK food-good service. The hotel staff was so helpful to help us get around Seattle-took us to a restraunt on the shuttle and took us to the airport to catch the Link to see downtown-very easy to use and felt safe. Cheap way to get 6 people around. James the shuttle driver was like our personal driver :) Left the next am for the ship by Oarnge Co Cab-much cheaper than a shuttle and we also called him to come back and get us the following week-was there in 30 minutes-and took us back to hotel. Arrived at the ship=quick check in for all-traveling with 70 year old parents and 2 teenagers-so we had all ages covered. Lots of helpful Princess staff-took us right where we needed to go. Security check was quick and then on to cruise check in. We were then told the last cruise was affected with the Noravirus so there would be about an hour delay-by this time we had our luggage checked, cruise check and they let us load the ship (about noon). We went straight to our rooms and then to the buffett on 14th floor for lunch. We were so excited to be able to eat so quickly! There was a delay in the lines most days due to the extensive hand sanitizing and Princess staff serving the buffett (for two days only)= but as a nurse--I was so glad to see the extra measures of cleanliness--I would prefer every buffett to be like this). Our cabins were three in a row-spacious, lovely obstructed view-able to see out without a problem and a very wonderful cabin steward Phillip. Beds were ok. Slept well with the dark curtains and rocking ship. Nice shower and plenty of room to hang, dress and be comfortable. Room service very slow-only used one time. All dining rooms serve the same food--anytime dining great-any wait was only ten minutes--Had Oscar in Vivaldi and Miguel in Pacific Moon two times-as we requested them after one time! So entertaining and accomodating to my mother's gluten free diet. Very good food-great presentation, and wonderful selection--the desserts are wonderful--the Baked Alaska was sinful!! lots of hard bread- great cookies on the buffett- huge assortment of fruit that was wonderful. Sometimes hard to find a table for 6-but if real nice to the staff-they always accomodated us quite quickly. No soda or coffee for us-but father had coffee and never complained. Ice tea lemonade and milk are free. Did not do any pictures-lots of opportunities, No spa days--toooo many ads from the spa-way too expensive and lots of promotions. Work out room adequate-lots of newbies that stopped after second day! Able to get machines I needed. Lots of instructional seminars-some fun others a waste-but something to do on sea days! Ports--we did a lot of excursions. Ketchikan did the zip line and ropes course-even my 72 year old dad with a knee replacement was able to do it-as the organizers helped him with side lines to get him up there-awesome and very fun day. Lumberjack show-corny but very entertaining! Teenagers had a good time and the guys are good eye candy with their big muscles :) Junea we chose the Salmon fishing on a private boat--huge waste of money-were not told salmon wouldn't be biting for another two weeks-four hours on a boat watching someone else load the fishing poles and allowing us to watch them bob. The only highlight was their pet Eagle Oscar who would soar over the boat and pick up fish bait they would throw out-kids loved this! Skagway--perfect excursion-helicopter ride up to the glacier to a dog sled camp where we actually rode on the Idirod!! We all loved this place-many many photos and a true treat for all of us at this $$$ price--worth every penny. Dog sled trainers were WONDERFUL! Mallory and Chase- then ended the day in the mountains on a horseback ride-great great great! We are all different horseback rider levels from beg to advanced and they totally accomodated us to a particular horse. Thrilled to see a grizzly bear waiting in the tree line-he didn't want anything to do with ten riders or ten horses!! Victoria BC-wonderful horsedrawn trolley--not a lot of walking so was perfect for dad. BEAUTIFUL city-on the list to go back here. Overall-cruise was great-weather was PERFECT--not a single day of rain (lots of prayers!) and met some wonderful people from all over. Not a lot of young people-so teens hung with each other-but had plenty to do with the pool, hot tub and cookie line! The entertainment was good-comedian so-so and culinary inservice interesting. Lots to see and do-if you want to spend the money-we chose to book through Princess and we were so glad when we were late coming back from the horseback riding and they held the ship for ten of us! The Princess was all we hoped for and my parents-first cruise-even slept in one day until 10 am~ Lots of time for rest and relaxation-or lots to do if you choose. 15 year old son gained five pounds. We were glad we did not choose a balcony=lots of room outside the ship with lots of exits to get there-and too cold to sit out there anyway-I dont think you will be disappointed if you bring lots of Please/Thank-you's with you. Heard lots of people that were rude to the staff-and then witnessed so/so service after--manners go a long way-all the way to Alaska!
