Wow, whew, ive just arrived home and i want to just give a breif review while things are fresh in my mind. First of all, it was two women needing a break from husbands and home, looking for a relaxing time. Im from NYC and ive cruised with mostly RCCL and NCL and carnival. This was my first time with Princess and boy was I impressed! Of course there are pros and cons but if your going for total relaxtion without children and teens running the ship then youve chosen the right one. Much older crowd. Many people up there in age. Not many under 40 really. Cabin was similar to RCCL with the exception of the beds which were very very hard. My one true complaint if i had one. We pre-ordered egg crates but it didnt help that much. Embarkation was so smooth that by noon we were in our cabins and ready to go have lunch. Amazing why RCCL cant do that? There were many options in dining and being from NYC i am a picky..or shall we say decerneing pallet. I did not have a bad meal. The desserts were better then most places here in NYC. They have a great pasty chef and they dont cut corners using fake creams or fake butters. Very authentic stuff made in small batches. Dining room staff were more then attentive. We had anytime dinging and we didnt wait more then 2 minutes but we ate after 8 30 each night. Pedro was the matrie'd and he was falling over himself to accomidate my friend who is a vegitarian. Even got her Indian food one night. The international cafe had exceptional tapas and cheeses free of charge all day and the wine bar nearby also offers fresh real sushi and tapas. All wonderful. Went to a wine tasting on board and was offered opus one for 129$ a bottle. Thats a deal and a half ! Room service food was also tasty but not so fast. The buffet in horizons was open 24 hours and if you dont find something you like there, well then you should have just stayed home because there is something for everyone and more. All the staff seemed very genuine and all of them went out of there way to see that we were happy! The lotus spa and thermal suite is incredible. There are many pools for adults only and the layout is spread out over the ship so you never feel like your being packed in with 3500 others. The movies under the stars were nice. We saw Avitar one night and a shooting star went flying overhead! The cabin had a nice little flat screen TV and lots of closet space. Regulation bathroom maybe a smite smaller then the norm. The ports were ok. Same old stuff. Turks was a nice surprise. Very beautiful and the water is so clear and calm. Best day out on their Eastern trips. The disco was ok. Big , but the DJ wasn't good at all. Yikes. Just bad music. The cruise director was better at it then he was. Still most nights we danced for a while just to get rid of some of the fullness from dinner. Drinks were good. After 8 PM they go down to 2.99$ Unheard of for a cruise ship! Cookies and milk were handed out at the movies as was popcorn. The food just never stopped. Front desk took a long long time to answer the phone always. And a women fell down a flight of steps near the rear little pool and I told the bartender that she needed medical help right away, but they did not show up for 20 minutes. That worries me because if someone is in serious trouble will they also take that long to respond? I did tell an officer about it later on and he took action against those who were responsible im sure. Other then that, the shows were so so. RCCL really goes all out with shows and these were just not big productions. Comedian was funny one night, and smaller acts around the ship were all right. Public rooms were all in dark wood. Very club roomish and masculine. They all really looked alike. Even the dining rooms. Couldn't tell one from another really. Very...subdued. Not like anything of RCCL or NCL or carnival at all. Everyone on board was also very umm..subdued and laid back. I liked it a lot. No blasting music everywhere and very little loud speaker action. All in all I cant wait to go back to princess. Great value considering the high quality food your getting and the service with a smile is awesome. Disembarking was silent. You could stay till 10 am and relax in your cabin or have a full breakfast. No rush's at all. Very civilized if I do say so myself. And I do!
