This was our third Carnival cruise. As in the past, we were well pleased with everything! Last year, we went on a Norweigan cruise and were totally shocked at the difference between the two cruise lines.
The ship's layout is completely comfortable. It is easy to go from point A to point B without getting turned around and lost.
The food was great! Typically, most of the items on the Posh or Chic menus were also on the Freedom buffet. We ate in the Chic dining room for the Captain's dinners, and were a bit disappointed that folks weren't "dressed". Although there were no flip flops, shorts, or bathing suit attire there, many people simply dressed in jeans. We used "Your Time" dining, and typically had to wait 15 - 20 minutes for a table, which wasn't really a big deal. The wait staff was very pleasant, but seemed to be more geared towards those who had scheduled either early or late seating.
I tried several mornings to use the gym. The place was always packed, which really wasn't an issue, but out of 15 or so treadmills, 5 of them were not in working order.
Our cabin was very nice. Our room steward, Eko, was incredible! We were very pleased with the service he gave us.
The staff was great! Anytime we passed a staff member, we were always greeted with a smile. They seemed eager to go out of their way to help with anything. My only complaint on the staff would be the waitstaff around the Lido pool. They did not come around often enough.
We enjoyed all the ports, although we were a bit miffed with our transportation in Costa Rica. The excursion plainly stated transport would be in an "air conditioned bus", but it was not. The excursion director said the a/c was broken, and the driver supposedly took the bus to be fixed, but it was not. It was incredibly miserable on the trip to and from our excursion.
We love Carnival and are certain we'll never cruise with any other cruise line.
