Just returned from a 5 night cruise on RCI's Grandeur of the Seas. The cruise was to celebrate a graduation and 80th birthday. We were four woman and the ages travelling together were 23, 24, 53 and 80. Everyone had a wonderful time. Had recently cruised on Celebrity Summit and found the Grandeur to be a bit more relaxed and a lot more action. There were lots of families with children. Activities staff kept the kids occupied and they always looked like they were having so much fun. The food was excellent on the Grandeur, however Windjammer Cafe was always quite crowded at breakfast and lunch.....the noise level was extremely high during these periods. It was a quieter more relaxed dining experience in The Great Gatsby dining room. Service was always incredible. We had one oceanview cabin and one interior cabin across the hall from each other and our stateroom attendant Kurt was always there whenever we needed anything. The entertainment throughout the ship was very good and the timing of the shows seemed to work well. Embarkation and disembarking went smoothly however we did opt for early walkoff as we had a plane to catch. My only complaint about the Grandeur of the Seas was the swimming pool. Too small for the number of people using it. It wasn't clean and too warm. You felt like you were in a warm bathtub with a hundred people crammed in at any given time. The water was murky and when the younger children swam under water is was difficult to see them. There was always a film of sunscreen floating on the top of the water with hair strands mixed in. It was really awful and we avoided swimming other than to just sit on the edge to just try and cool your feet off. The inside Solarium pool was closed for repairs on one day and it was a little too hot to sit inside that area.
