Celebrity Drink Packages

Sail Date: June 2010
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Thrilled to learn of the new drink packages available on Celebrity cruises, we purchased two premium packages during our 7 day cruise last week on the Solstice. Our premium packages were to include all individual drinks priced at $12 or less. We were very surprised when checking our account that we were charged for two drinks priced at $11.44.

Upon inquiry, Guest Relations informed me that the package did not include any drinks in collectible glasses even if they were priced at less than $12. Nowhere in any of the information presented to us did it say that these drinks were not included. At no time did the bartender tell us that these drinks were not included. Our receipt for the drinks did not indicate a charge for the drinks.

Guest Relations contacted the head of bar services, Lisa, to request a refund on our behalf. Because we only wanted the drinks and not the glasses, we even offered to give the two glasses back to the cruise line. Unfortunately, Celebrity More (Lisa) opted to demand $11.44 from an Elite Captain's Club member than to admit that they misrepresented their beverage package or possibly made a mistake. Lisa said that it was not the bartender's responsibility to inform us that the drinks wouldn't be included, nor was it Celebrity's responsibility to present the "fine print" involved with their packages.

I tried unsuccessfully to reach the Captain's Club Hostess for three days while on-board, so I guess the next stop is to dispute the charges with my bank. What a shame. Hope the $11.44 was worth it Celebrity!!! Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Solstice Concierge Class Panorama Deck (9) 1649

The Voyager Class ships on RCCL have significantly more storage space. Our room, a C-2 on the Penthouse deck, was well appointed and very clean. Elevators ran smoothly and the staff were friendly and courteous. The crew seemed to be stretched too thin. We started bringing drinks from the bar to dinner each evening because it was taking 30-45 minutes to place a wine order and the bar hostess rarely came by. We were well into our second course of the meal before were would get our first glass of wine. There were also long waits at the bars and the bartenders only came around the pool deck every 30 minutes or so.

Port and Shore Excursions

We booked the Native Choice Extreme Tour. Our Native Choice Guide, Kathrine, was super and Roberto at the blue lagoon was a treasure.

We booked a day at Nachi Cocum and had an absolutely wonderful time. Many thanks to all of you who recommended it to us!

We booked excursion 59-A through the cruise line. It was a catamaran trip to Stingray city followed by time at 7-mile beach. The stingray trip was awesome and I highly recommend it! After the stingray trip we were to be bussed to the beach, but were surprised to find out that the tour company forgot to send a bus for us. So there we stood in the heat for 45 minutes waiting for a bus. After the beach break, the same thing happened again.

We highly recommend the Mayan Princess resort. A day pass to the facility was only $10 each! A beautiful facility with a great beach. The only negative were the vendors constantly trying to sell their goods on the beach. We moved to the pool area to avoid them.
