Boarded the Celebration late, around 4:30PM, w/32 friends, ranging in age from 21 to 71. We did paperwork at ship's entrance, no wait. Although ship wasn't as glitzy as others we've been on, this was the perfect spot to celebrate our friend's 43rd birthday.
Party atmosphere on ship with relaxation available at Lucaya Resort, a wonderful beach/resort for adults and children. Plenty of watersport activities at resort; shopping, dolphin encounter, etc. across the street from it. Since we were with a group, we received wristbands at the Resort so I don't know about day fees at the resort. I wouldn't recommend staying on the ship during the day. The port itself isn't pretty and the ship's pool is very small.
Outside balcony room w/large window was plain, but very clean, flat screen tv, good mattress/linens, 2 foldaway beds plus a small queen, chocolates at night, excellent service, towels changed frequently, etc. by a room steward whom we never saw.
Steve Zimmerman, Saturday night's entertainer/comedian, was hysterical. The View disco was sensational w/lighting, music and nice crowd. Stayed open late compared to other ships' we've been on.
Great piano player, good drinks and service in bar.
Food in the Rio restaurant was OK, not many choices, prime rib was thin, but good. Superb food in the upscale restaurant. Buffet breakfast was large with omelet station. Bread, pastries very bland, GREAT COFFEE.
The negatives.....Muster drill was a mess w/people crammed in a stairwell (no need to bring/wear life preservers) Noticed some bad odors here and there around the ship, debarkation was extremely long, about an hour in line! Staff/security at embarkation and debarkation weren't at all friendly. However, the positives by far outweighed the negatives!
Considering the cost of this trip, it's a great deal for a fun weekend. I understand that one can take the ship one way, spend a few days at the Lucaya Resort and take another ship back. We're considering doing this next year.
