Sail Date: May 2010

After sailing on the Thomson Celebration we were really looking forward to sailing on the Thomson Dream which was being pushed as Thomsons 5* ship. We were told this ship had been in dry dock and all cabins had been refurbished and the ship had been modernised ready for its first voyage with Thomson. I think this is where Thomson started dreaming.

We embarked the ship on the 18th May at Palma, every thing went very well and we were on board within 10 minutes. Once on board at deck 6 the first thing we saw was a panel of the wall revealing pipes and insulation. First impressions not good. As we are being shown along the passageway to cabin 6111 the strong smell of sewage was disgusting. Inside the cabin the smell of sewage was just as bad and we already new this was a big mistake choosing this ship. I reported to customer services on deck 8 about the smell and they looked at me as if this was unusual and said they would have it checked out. I knew at this point that nothing would be done, and i was right as the sewage smell was with us for 7 days. This problem cannot be rectified when returning to a port this ship will have to be taken out of service in dry dock to have pipe work, toilets etc checked. All through the cruise on various decks you would find buckets catching dirty water coming from ceilings and large heavy duty blowers attempting to dry carpets. On the last night when all cases had to be put out ready for collection a pipe from the pool on deck 9 started leaking. The water brought down ceilings on deck 8 and some people had to be evacuated from their cabins in the area concerned. On checking with the customer services i was told that everything was under control, yet there was still crew members running about like headless chickens. The water then moved down to deck 7 and flooded the carpets and started running into the lift shaft, this was becoming more like the Titanic.

Cabin accommodation was very poor, drawers were broken and would not open which meant you had to live out your suitcase.

Cabin Review

Cabin std

Cabin was like a 2 star hotel. No luggage space drawers broken and would not open. Toilet and shower shabby and dinghy. Noise from above and outside made you feel as if your were staying inside a container ship. When sailing the walls and the window creaked and groaned.
