Sail Date: May 2010

My husband and I were supposed to cruise on the Splendor soon after her American debut and had to cancel at the last minute so we were counting down the minutes until the Dream would sail.  Cabin 2329 - Cove Balcony - midship - wonderful room overall. Spacious with plenty of storage space for a seven day cruise. We have a multi-pocket organizer that hangs on the outside of the bathroom door for all our small stuff so the bathroom stays uncluttered and also a net-pop-up laundry basket that fits in one side of the closet. We are pretty organized so the cabin doesn't get to cluttered. The balcony was heavenly! Very private and comfortable. We enjoyed many sunsets and room service breakfasts on the balcony.

The only negative note is that the cabin is right over the midship stabilizer. On the Thursday night of our cruise we hit some semi-rough seas and we heard the most horrendous noise! It sounded like something had broken loose and was trying to pound its way through the hull! We called Guest Services and they sent someone down within 5 minutes to listen. About 15 minutes later they called to see if we were still in our cabin and sent another person down to explain that the noise was the rough water rushing through the stabilizers and it would stop as soon as the seas calmed down. Knowing what was causing the noise made it seem a little quieter and didn't bother us too much. A few hours later, the seas did calm and the noise was gone. Guest Services did a great job, didn't just blow us off and really were very informative. I would not hesitate to book this cabin again! We had read some negative reviews but went on board with a positive attitude and I am so glad we did. We fell in love with this ship!! She is a beautiful, tastefully decorated ship. The food was great, the service was wonderful, the crew was top notch! We have had Todd Ditmer as a cruise director before and it was wonderful to see him again. The Serenity deck was fabulous - what a great idea! Imagine sailing in the middle of the ocean while swinging in a hammock!

I am normally directionally challenged when I am inside, but I never got lost once on the Dream. I can't remember how many times I got lost on the Triumph. The deck plan was well done. The real standout was the juggler, Edge! His show was, without a doubt, the best show we have ever seen on a Carnival cruise. Also, the Blackjack band who performed nightly at the Ocean Plaza were a real treat! Their style was varied and wonderful. Imagine Janis Joplin meets Charlie Daniels! We never knew what we were going to get and that made each night special!
