I recently went on the Celebrity Century that left from Miami 5/3/10- 5/10/10. The Ports of Call were Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen and Key West. I have to say it was the worst cruise ship I have ever been on and I would not recommend that anyone go on this ship. They should just let it sink. If you want to go on a good cruise take ROYAL CARIBBEAN. The only good thing about my vacation was being with my family and the Ports of Call. There are so many crazy things that happened and the way the situations were handled is unacceptable. This cruise was a family cruise to celebrate my father's 65th Birthday and was booked a year in advance. My father wanted to have a great time so he booked 2 Sky Suite Rooms with verandas and a private butler. This turned out to be the "Griswold Family Vacation." The things that happened started to become very comical and now are a joke among my family. Listed below are just some of the events that took place-Welcome to Celebrity Century!

1. 1.Our travel agent did inform the cruise line that my sister was pregnant and would be 20 weeks pregnant when we board the ship; she asked if there were any policies or if a note was needed to travel and a Celebrity Representative said NO. Well, when we arrived at the Celebrity Port to board the ship they would not let my sister on without a doctor's note. We asked what the policy was and they said, " If you are 26 weeks or more pregnant you need a doctor's note to travel." My sister explained that she is 20 weeks pregnant but they didn't care and would not let her on the ship without a note. So my sister had to call her doctor (in NEW JERSEY) to have them fax a letter so she can travel. They made us wait in a room, which we dubbed "The Reject Room", with other passengers they would not let on board. Oh, by the way, the fax machine was not on the premises it was at the airport and they had to wait for an e-fax from the airport to confirm that they received the fax from the doctor's office. We finally were able to get on the ship 20 minutes later. If the policy were explained correctly when the travel agent asked, this never would have happened. Just to let you know that I searched on the CELEBRITY CRUISES official website to see policies about pregnant passengers and the FAQ sections and even typed in pregnant passengers in the search box and there is nothing mentioned on the website at all. I decided to email the Celebrity customer service about it on 5/14/10 and never received an answer. I called the customer service line(5/19/10 @ 12:30 p.m.), asked their pregnancy policy and got an answer. The representative said if you are 24 weeks and over you are not allowed to travel unless you have a doctor's note and do not have any complications. I actually received an answer to my e-mail exactly 1 hour after I called the customer service line. The Celebrity representatives that were asked this pregnancy policy all had different answers and are not working on the same page. I think Celebrity should have their workers read the Company Policy & Procedures Manual again and also POST IT ON YOUR WEBSITE!

2. The welcome letter in the stateroom said, "Welcome to your 5 day cruise", we went on a 7-day cruise. For the rest of the cruise the daily agendas had the Port of Call on the front ,the history of the island and then on the inside had all of the excursions for the next day's Port of Call. I think it was just pure laziness that this letter and the daily agendas were not changed to actually have the correct information in it. When we had to go the muster stations before the ship left, they didn't make us put on the vests or even tell us what we needed to do in case of an emergency. We all stood on the 5th Floor Promenade Deck and listened to the cruise director welcome us aboard and then we were released. We were told they do not do this on a 5 Day Cruise. Again, we went on a 7 Day Cruise. Even though it's common sense what should be done in an emergency, it could have been explained properly and professionally.

Cabin Review

Cabin SS

Nice closet, nice size veranda and bathroom. Poorly set up. Pull out couch mattress did not fit the bed and was as thick as a deck of cards. With the pull out couch opened you cannot go out on the veranda without climbing over the 2 beds. I have pictures. Air conditioning- non-existent. Awful smell of exhaust. TV directly above pull out couch cannot view TV if that is your bed.
