Sail Date: Apr 2010

As background, I am an experienced cruiser, age 60 male who just completed this cruise with my "significant other" lady friend. Full capacity on this ship is 2600 passengers and I believe it sailed around this level. Many things on the cruise went "right" but I will start with some disappointing problems. We had "anytime" dining but had great difficulty getting a table for 2 on many occasions that we requested one. On 3 occasions we could not get seats in the Princess theater because of the crowd size. The ships' excursions were also less enjoyable than expected because of the "herding" of 50 or so people in a large bus. It didn't help that a number of those were not active, mobile people who slowed down the process. The food was good but no better. Escargots was available only 1 time on an 18 night cruise! The entertainment in the Princess theater was good but no better. TWO venues were a waste. The sports/cigar bar reeked and should come with a health warning & oxygen mask! It usually had only a few occupants but their stoogies made their presence known. Skywalkers disco is a nice lounge which was basically unused-recorded music discos in 2010??? So you have crowds in the Princess theater and promenade/martini bar and a virtually empty Skywalkers. Boarding the ship when returning from port was often met with long lines. Also the amount of time in many of the ports was limited. Question-the ship has designated "formal nights", so why are they allowing people in shorts and T shirts in the main theater and main dining room on these nights? The captains party was held in the Atrium area which was an inappropriate venue. On the positive side, the itinerary was excellent with many excellent ports visited including Zeebrugge, Dover, and LeHavre. The entertainment in the lounges & promenade/martini bar was very good but many times it was difficult getting a seat for the piano player. Sabatini's specialty restaurant was excellent and worth the surcharge. The cruise director was good and personable. The ship offers some after 8PM drink specials and also a worthwhile specialty coffee card. Our room steward was very good. In summary, the cruise should have been great but was merely good. The ship could not manage the large crowd with the resulting lines, crowds, and congestion. Who is making the management decisions? I left the ship disappointed and all I can say is "MOO."

Cabin Review

Cabin AA

Cabin was Dolphin 424 minisuite which had an excellent midshipe location and was quite nice. Good size bath with tub. Not quite sure why 2 adjacent TVs were needed though.
