Sail Date: May 2010

Just returned from a fabulous trip aboard the Mariner to the Mexican Riviera with just my husband! We flew into LAX on Sat night and stayed at the LAX Marriott. Had a fantastic dinner in the Marriott Steakhouse, ordered the prix fixe and it was too much too eat!

Sunday morning, left at 11:00 with Zippy Shuttle ($109 round trip + tip). Got to the pier in ½ hour and waited about 1 hour before boarding. Hint - if you don't want your picture taken, cut around the line. Once on the ship, had the drink of the day at the Wig and Gavel. Then headed to the heli pad for a fantastic view.

Other highlights Dining - Late seating worked really well, never felt rushed. Sat at a 6 top right next to the Captain's table. He only sat at the table 1 night. Service was good as was the food. But having sailed on the Mariner 2 years ago, agree with others that the service and food has declined. You can order as much as you like and even ask for special things. We quickly made friends with the 2 other couples at our table. Went to Portofino's one night (the Captain was dining there.) Highly recommend. Food and service was outstanding. Would have dined there more, but really enjoyed our tablemates in the MDR.
