Review Explorer of the Seas May 8, 2010

Overall, this was a great cruise experience. I'm going to approach this, like many others, on a day-to-day basis but first a little background. DW and I are on the downside of 50 and our DS is in the middle of his 20's. We live in Pittsburgh and decided to drive to Bayonne.

Friday May 7: I know this is a day early but this is when we learned that a waiter had gone overboard and the Captain, and crew, searched for him for nine hours until the Coast Guard took over. This put the Explorer in Bayonne about eight hours late. Royal Caribbean did their best to notify everyone about the delay. They called, posted a message on their web site and notified the travel agents so they could, in turn, notify their clients.

Cabin Review

Cabin ins

This was an inside handicapped cabin. Although we wished we had a balcony, they have none for 3 people. Once we asked the coffee table to be removed we had more than ample room for the scooter and all of us without hitting anything or anybody. The bathroom was very spacious and the shower was fantastic. If there was a downfall it MAY have been the safe. It was tucked under the TV, a good place if you are under 5'6" but a LITTLE inconvenient for taller folks to see the touchpad. The steward was a gem, catering to our whims without a problem. Proximity to the forward elevators was very good. There was no noise or odors noticed. the thermostat was responsive to our setting and when we asked for cool we got cool not frozen.
