Embarkation was re;atively painless....had been to Cape Liberty before, so knew what to expect. It can only get better as the port is improved. Our rooms were ready shortly after lunch and luggage arrived shortly thereafter. OV cabins are roomy and comfortable for one person. Buffet is like any buffet....lots of food to please anybody and everybody.....good variety, enough to have something different for at least a week or more. MDR.....appetizers, salads and desserts are excellent. Main course could stand improvement, e.g. hotter, hotter, hotter. Some were better than others...prime rib not tender, lamb shanks not cooked enough, fish (halibut) excellent, as were tournadoes. Entertainment, in particular, the singers and dancers were the best I have ever seen on any cruise. Other shows were very good too. Rendezvous band at dinner time not up to expectations...good jazz, but not good for dancing. Cabin steward did what he had to do, but not outstanding. Crew in general not as friendly as on the Constellation.....encountered one very condescending hostess at Guest Relations. (Grrrrr!) One upsetting thing....a bottle of wine was on our desk on arrival....asked cabin steward about it and he said it was complimentary. I have seen these bottles of wine before on arrival and there is always a charge for them. Each day I checked with him and he assured me it was a complintary bottle.....he had checked with his supervisor. I asked who it could be from, that usually there would be a tag on it indicating who had left it. No note was on it. Finally on the last night, believing some anonymous donor had given us a bottle, we took it to the dining room and enjoyed it. I happened to mention it to my kids on the trip home from the airport, only to find they had ordered it for us. They were shocked and not happy to find that no card had been placed on it. All in all it was a good cruise.....a big birthday celebration cruise for my daughter and me, and we thoroughly enjoyed being together. We also met a lot of nice people. Celebrity remains my favourite cruise line.
