Sail Date: Apr 2010

We have cruised several times before so we knew what to expect and Infinity met most of our expectations except for the late dining experience and the gym. Embarkation at San Diego was a little slow - took an hour and a half - but not too bad. Food/dining - food was excellent both at the main dining room and the Horizon Court buffet where we ate breakfast and lunch every day - there was always plenty of choice and if you could'nt find anything you liked you could get a made-to-order personal pizza which I would highly recommend. We were fortunate to have a nice group at our table and the service was excellent if a little distant. Entertainment - this is where we had a problem. We had booked late dining expecting to go to the late show. However, ALL shows were shown at 7PM and 8:45PM which we found to be early - we have sailed Celebrity before and the shows were always AFTER dining at 10:30PM which we much prefer. The singers/dancers were great - lots of energy, good music, great choreography. The rest of the entertainment was average. There was a good mixture of live music in the bars throughout the evening, everything from pop to classical. The Azure quartet played a relaxing mix of music that was popular with many people. Also enjoyed the Infinity band doing Big Band numbers. The string quartet and 'a capella' singers were nice alternatives to the Azure quartet. Cabin - we had an inside cabin which was standard size (170 sq feet) and perfectly adequate. The steward was excellent and un-obtrusive Ports - of course the Panama Canal transit was the highlight and it was a fascinating experience. Infinity had a lecture the day before we entered the canal so we were well prepared. We stayed on the ship in Acapulco and Cabo san Lucas and did our own thing in Huatulco - took a taxi for $5 to Entrega beach where we snorkeled just off the beach and saw lots of fish. Sat in beach front restaurant and had some Corona beers for $3 then took taxi back to ship - highly recommended activity in Huatulco We did take shore excursions in Puntarenas and Cartagena. In Puntarenas we took a cable car ride to a valley floor, walked through rain forest with guide, had lunch and returned to ship - nice outing. In Cartagena we did a walking tour through old city for 2 hours with a guide - it was so hot !!! But the tour was good and I was surprised how interesting old city of Cartagena was - they have done a good job of retaining the old architecture. Gym - this was my other problem with Infinity. I like to use the gym on a daily basis so I don't put on too many lbs but the gym was hot and stuffy - when I mentioned this on an interim survey I received a call stating that I was the first person that had EVER mentioned this problem which I find hard to believe. Anyway they said they'd send an AC guy up to check it out but when I used the gym later it was still way too hot - buy some fans and close the blinds !!! To conclude - enjoyed our cruise on Infinity - great ship, good staff, excellent food - just a couple of things that need tweaking.
