ISLAND PRINCESS PANAMA CANAL DEC 30-10 DAY

DEC 30- EMBARKATION- Took a shuttle from our hotel on the 17 th Street Causeway to ship. I was amazed at the number of people dragging their luggage down the street to save 10.00! We arrived at about 1130am. Checked in, gave our credit card for use on board the ship and received our cruise card. Waited for about 30 minutes in the lounge for Elite Members and then boarded. When you board you get your picture taken and that picture is linked to your cruise card You always use that card to get on and off the ship. It is also your room key and charge card. Our cabin was a Balcony cabin on the Caribe Deck. The Caribe Deck balconies are bigger than any others on this ship. Plenty of room for 4 chairs that recline and a little table. There was a wait of about 10 minutes and then our luggage arrived. We took a little ship tour and then went back to our cabin and opened our champagne.-Happy Anniversary to us! By the way the ship had put balloons and a Happy Anniversary sign on our door. We just stayed on our Balcony for Sail Away. It was so cool hearing and seeing the residents of the apartment buildings beside the harbour waving Princess flags, blowing horns and waving goodbye to us. . We like Anytime Dining-we could go to our assigned Dining room anytime between 530pm and 10. You can call ahead and reserve a particular time but we would just go down, check in with Maitre'D and have a drink while we waited. The longest wait for our table for two was about 15 minutes. If you were prepared to share a table there was usually no wait at all.

DEC 31-NEW YEARS EVE This was a day at sea and we spent it meeting fellow passengers and exploring the ship. That night everyone was dressed to the nines. There were a lot of Formal Pictures being taken. We wondered what New Year's would be like on a ship and we were not disappointed. The hats and headbands were given out at dinner. There was free champagne as well. We all went on deck for the deck party and then used our ship- supplied noisemakers at midnight. The ship's horn was blown as well. It was a lot of fun.
