Just returned yesterday (9/25) from a most memorable NE/Canada cruise aboard Carnival's Victory. Unfortunately, the weather followed us up from Florida, and met us again with hurricane Jeanne as we returned home. We had a late departure from port, due to flight delays, etc. Our first night at sea was met with 15' swells, and we were "rocking n' rolling" to put it mildly! Fortunately, this did not start until after dinner. The following morning, all was well, and we journeyed on to Boston, and because of the weather and delay in New York, our port time there was extended to 12 P.M.
Our balcony cabin was wonderful, even on those cold and windy days. The size was quite adequate, as well as the closet and drawer space. The cabin steward kept our room neat and tidy, and the ice bucket full. He always seemed to anticipate our needs, even before we asked. This is true for the entire crew on board. A more congenial and helpful group would be hard to find. The decor and colors used on More
this ship are soft and very tasteful. The main lobby is spectacular with it's glass elevators, and winding staircases. My husband enjoyed the fitness room, not only because of it's cleanliness, but also the equipment. It offered more than our local healthclub does.
Our late seating assignment was in the Pacific Dining Room on the lower level. Once again we encountered a staff of efficient and "wanting to please" crew members. There was a nice variety of items on the menu, and we enjoyed them all! During the day, we chose to eat at the buffet on the Lido Deck. That too was a treat. As was mentioned previously, the pizza is great!!
There were lots of planned activities during the day and evening, under the capable leadership of a very fun loving Activity Director and his assistants. Instead of going on the planned cruise excursions, we rented cars from Enterprise in Portland, Sydney, and Halifax. With maps in hand, we headed out to explore each area and it's highlights. We really enjoyed taking our time to drive and stop along the scenic routes. With Hurricane Jeanne heading to Florida, we were allowed to disembark early so that we could get to LaGuardia for an earlier flight back home. To summarize, in spite of the weather, this was a wonderful cruise and we would love to go back on the Victory again!!! Less
