Perfect Vacay, Perfect Ship

Sail Date: April 2010
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We went on the Oasis of the Seas for an Eastern Caribbean Cruise. IT WAS PERFECT!!! The embarkment was the easiest ever.. we have been on 6 other cruises all with RCCL (would never stray) and this embarkment was less then 5 minutes from the time we entered the building. Couldn't be happier unless there was a bar in terminal.. haha

From the time we entered the ship we were amazed, everything was so much bigger then all of the pictures and videos we looked at. Our room overlooked the Boardwalk (8695) it was right above the carousel, we were 1st afraid that we would hear circus music all day and night because we were so close to the caracol but the music coming from the boardwalk was very faint, never fazed us .

The ship was full to capacity, 5400 people plus crew but it never felt crowded. Several nights we were like "were are all the people". There are so many things to do so everyone is so spread out. LOVED IT!! The pool areas weren't even crowded, some people More tried to save lounge chairs at the pool... for no reason, there were always several to choose from. We were told by a bartender that there are 7,450 lounge chairs... plenty to go around.

We did the 8:30 dinner because we don't want to go in early to get ready for the early seating. I don't like leaving the pool area until the last minute, so the 8:30 was perfect for us. There are so many different dining options that we only went to the main dining room 3 nights. We made reservations for Giovanni's months before our trip to ensure a date and time that we wanted. If you wait until you board to make reservations anywhere on the ship you might not get the date and time you want, so I recommend that you check everything that requires a reservation before you leave.

All of the shows were great, we made reservations for the ice skating show as well. You can just walk into other shows on the ship, check which ones you need reservations for though. I have no complaints about the ship what so ever. Like I said, we have been on several cruises with RCCL and have only had one problem on another ship and RCCL compensated us well , very well! That is why we would never try another cruise line ,RCCL has everything that we love for our vacations. We have been on the smallest ship they provide and now the largest ship in the world... Like I said PERFECT... Less

Port and Shore Excursions

We have been to Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten several times so this time we opted not to get off the ship to do any excursions. If you want to do the flow rider or zip line this is the perfect time to take advantage of it. We were on the flow rider by ourselves for at least 45 min.. It was like our own personal instructor, but without paying for him. This was the day we were in ST.Thomas.

If you do anything in St. Maarten opt to go to Orient Beach, it is a beautiful beach with a great bar and restaurant. It is next to the nude beach... when you see the yellow umbrellas you know you've hit the nude beach or just look for the naked people. lol

Nassau is just Nassau, there are alot of shops.. like flee market stuff. The women that work there will try to sell you anything.. always bargain with them on their price, they will most likely take what ever you can give them with out an argument.

Like I said earlier this is a good time to explore the ship.. most people get off on ports to explore the islands so you can take advantage of every nook and cranny there is on this HUGH SHIP. Last but not least,to get off the ship is new...you wait in a holding area until your tag number for your luggage is called.. about 45 min or so.. we were so tired we didn't care as long as we weren't standing in a line. Taxi's are easy to come by and immigration was a breeze.

Hope your trip is as perfect as ours was.. ENJOY!!!
