Before Cruise: We flew down the night before and stayed at the Hyatt Regency in the Orlando International Airport. We booked a Junior Suite to have additional room for the two of us, plus four kids the two girls ages 14yr., a son age 10yr. and our youngest son age 7yrs. Perfect size room, easy to pick up our bags at baggage claim, take the escalator and go right up to our room. Beautiful room top pool for swimming! Transportation to Port: Per the recommendation of Cruise Critic reviews, we booked a van from Cocoa Beach Shuttle. They showed up at the Hyatt right on time, easily fit all our bags (we had two each for the six of us) and they got us to the port in 45minutes. Cocoa Beach Shuttle was great...and cheap. We paid only $95 each way for six people and they were super friendly and accomodating. From the time we were dropped off (at 11am) till we were on the ship itself took 50 minutes, and very very easy. Ship: Words cannot describe the size of this ship...enormous and beautiful! We have cruised on Costa and Carnival and hands down this ship (and Royal Caribbean) take first place!!! We booked to rooms (side by side as no more adjoining rooms were available) we had balcony rooms 7242 and 7244. The rooms were perfect and balconies were amazing...to sit out there at night/morning and let the boys play there when we were all getting ready for dinner was fantastic! I will book balcony rooms each and every time! The shower doors make life sooo much easier when in the bathroom. We had plenty of closet space and were very comfy in the rooms. We spent little time there other than to change clothes and sleep...there were too many other gorgeous places to hang out in or enjoy! The kids club was truly a blessing, they had TONS of age appropriate activities, fun stuff in the club rooms, and great staff. The girls LOVED hanging out with the teens and the boys enjoyed all the games/competitions etc. They met children from all over. The staff was simply awesome, answering all our questions and accomodating any requests we had. They went above and beyond...and during our cruise (Spring break) there were 800 kids on board and you would have never guessed as the ship never truly seemed soooo jammed packed with people, even in the buffet restuarant the Windjammer. Food was great, our four kids (with two picky eaters) always found something delicious to eat. Listen, for me not making beds, not preparing meals, and not being the activity director for an entire week was HEAVEN!!! We opted for main seating so that we could enjoy the shows without having everyone exhausted at night. Shows: The shows (all of them, especially the Ice Show) were AWESOME! We went to each and every one of them each night and loved them all! Our kids (all hockey players) LOVED skating in the middle of the Caribbean Sea....very very cool!!! Plus they all got to meet the stars of the Ice Show while skating too. Ports: Labadee: Great, relaxing the kids had a super time at the beach. Cookout was fine, good simple, burgers, chicken, salad, fruit etc. Jamaica: Our least favorite port...especially with four kids. We opted not to do an excursion given all the reviews of the locals being very pushy. So, we just asked at the excursion desk if we could walk to a beach (we could see several from our cruise balcony). They told us where to go and it seemed easy enough...BUT first you have to deal with all the locals asking if you want a ride, a tour, some drugs, asking for money...UGH, it was so unpleasant and unsettling as we had all the kids with us. Finally a female police officer came over and assisted us in finding the right path (really an alley) to the beach. We made it and it was fine. Again, not great...but not the cruises fault. Grand Cayman: BEAUTIFUL, we did an excursion to the Stingray Sandbar...awesome experience and everyone loved it! We had a blast...went through the cruise to book it and loved each minute of our tour. The water was gorgeous! Seven mile beach is simply beautiful....the water is crystal clear and our kids loved to snorkel here. Then we got back into town and walked around in the shops. Cozumel: We told the kids to do any of their shopping here...cheap prices and some fun stuff for them...the girls got rings, the boys some cowboy stuff. We took the Playa Mia Beach Deluxe tour which included food/drinks (even alcohol) and again had a great time. Something for everyone here. Food not too great but the kids could have cared less...they were parasailing, riding the banana boat, climbing the water glacier, kayaking etc. The water/beach is not nearly as nice as Grand Cayman. We found the morning of departure very easy. We were up, changed off to breakfast in the Windjammer and then down to the Promenade deck to wait for our color to be called...found our luggage very quickly and Cocoa Beach Shuttle was waiting for us in the same spot it dropped us off in!!!! We then had a "day rate room" at the Hyatt Regency at the Orlanod International Airport till our flight (which wasn't until 5pm). We showered, swam, ate lunch and relaxed till it was time to go. The day rate was $89 and made our day much more relaxing and easy with the kids. It sure beat hanging out at a mall or in the airport lobby as we saw lots of folks from our ship doing. Overall: This was truly a great family vacation. There is enough going on to keep you busy each and every minute and plenty of space to relax quietly. I highly recommended this cruise!
