We, three sisters, took our mother on the Western Caribbean cruise for her 77nd birthday. Our party was a total of 8 women and for us personally it was the best experience. Our mother has thanked us profusely since our return. She had the time of her life. Everything about the Carnival Liberty cruise and staff was topnotch. We read reviews from others and weren't sure what to expect. When you travel, you must first stay calm and then realize that the world, crew or cruise do not revolve around you. They are there for everyone.
Let's start with getting on the ship. Yes we knew it was going to take a moment but if any of us tried to register and get 3000 people on a ship in just a few hours, we couldn't do it. Carnival has it down to an art-form. We just kept calm and made the best of the situation. The total process only took 1-2 hours from beginning to end. Once we got on board, we went to our cabin and it was AMAZING. We stayed on the SPA level Deck 11 - no smoking floor as we had 3 asthmatics. From the moment our mother went into the room, she sat in the chair next to the window and just admired the view. Of course we all knew who was going to get the bed next to the large window. Yep, MOM.
Dining Staff - Our Maitre d in the Golden Dining Room late seating was Elvis and he had the best staff. Our personal dining wait team were Ryan, JonJon and Simin. They made our time at every meal an adventure. We commend them on their professionalism yet making you feel at home. From day one, they remembered the little things like which people liked lemonade and which liked water; after dinner they remembered which ladies like coffee, cappuccino and hot chocolate. On our mother's birthday night, they made her feel special and she had the biggest smile on her face. They were excellent. The nightly entertainment was good and we were amazed at how the staff could be working very hard then perform and without skipping a beat, go right back to serving. We also ate in Emile's on the Lido deck and had a few breakfasts and one lunch in the Silver Dining Room. We never had a single complaint about any meal nor the service. The staff was very attentive.
Room Stewards - Tomi and Felix. We never had to ask for anything. Everytime we used a towel and left the room, it seemed like they had come and given us new ones. We enjoyed seeing what the animal would be every evening. We very rarely saw our stewards but knew that they were on the job as our room was cleaned several times a day. That is excellent service and attentiveness. Never having to find the steward to get anything as our needs were met before we thought of them.
Casino - great staff. Our mother spent a LARGE amount of time here and everyone was nice to her and took care of her. She was impressed by the recognition whenever she visited. Thank you.
Entertainment Staff - Noonan and his staff were great. Every minute of everyday had something going on that you could participate in or not. All in our group found areas to participate in every day. Good job.
Guest Services - These people need to be treated to one day of relaxation every cruise. There is no way we could ever do their job. They are the humblest people and stay calm during any situation. We have nothing but positive comments and the utmost respect for these workers.
Photographers - Never pressured to buy pictures. They were always around to take pictures. When we went to the 4th floor to view our photos, we were amazed at the great job they did. They were so good, we purchased more than we thought we would.
Food - let's just say delicious. Ate and ate and ate some more. Everything and everywhere. Enough said.
Spa - Yulunda worked a miracle on our mother's hair for the Captain's dinner night. She was excellent.
Gym - glad there was an opportunity to work out. Even with working out 3 times, we still gained weight from all the delicious food.
Hopefully we haven't left anyone out. We enjoyed ourselves so much and just thank Carnival Liberty for a vacation well done!!
