The Beginning and Getting to Port
The Carnival Triumph was my third cruise. All three have happened since June 2009 and all three have been with Carnival. I have nothing but good things to say about Carnival and would highly recommend it to any cruiser!
I traveled with two girlfriends and we live close enough to New Orleans that we drove. After reading reviews on Cruise Critic, we booked a one-night stay at the Drury Inn. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to New Orleans (cruisers or not). The hotel itself is very nice—common areas and guest rooms. They also provide a light dinner and cocktails (free!) after 5:30. They also provide continental breakfast. It was well worth it to stay here for one night. We also opted to park our car here for the duration of the cruise for a $35 fee. It was parked in a secure fenced-in area and we felt completely safe leaving our vehicle here.
Our cabin was great! Even though there were three of us, I never felt crowded. This was my first interior stateroom, and I didn't mind that at all--except we never knew what time of day it was! That part was a little disorienting, but while on vacation, does that matter?!
We really enjoyed the radio over the speakers. That was such a nice touch.
I do think, though, that the pink marble-ish style in the bathroom has got to go. It's not 1972.
Overall--great room!
