Just back from the RCCL Voyager of the Seas 04/04/2010 sailing: Awesome cruise. Never been on a bad one. Here is a review....some it of it is more a comparison between RCCL and Carnival, since we've been on both several times and that is kind of how we judge and compare.

The day (Easter Sunday) started with the Voyager being late due to fog.....about 5 hours late. We got to Galveston around 11:00 AM and ate lunch. We dropped off luggage and parked just as they began turning folk away and telling them to come back at 6PM! Luckily we got in and found out we were Platinum (Our 5th RCCL Cruise) and got in the VIP line and got checked in and got a seat in the VIP area while waiting to board. Soon after that, the line stopped and nobody moved for a few hours. We were very lucky to be in and have a seat...and sandwiches and water and champagne while waiting since we were Platinum. We visited with folk and played Scrabble on my wife's iphone. It wasn't too bad. When the ship was ready to board around 530 PM, we were among the first to get on and from then on everything was ok. RCCI gave everyone a $20 OBC for missing lunch. The day was ok for us, but pretty bad for some who didn't board until 8 or 9 PM.

Dinner that night was open seating and it was very good and met some good folk. The ship did not leave Galveston until 1200 Midnight so there was no Sail Away time, but at least we were on board. Also the Muster drill was the next day....Glad not to take or wear the vests for the 1st time ever...I've heard Carnival does this now too. That is great! The rest of the week we had MTD (My Time Dining) and liked it a lot. We had a private table for 2 each night. We had a standing reservation at 7pm (our choice) with the same waiters. Once, we went later to get a specific table and had our same waiters. We just loved it. 530 is too early and 800 is too late for us. MyTime is well....Our time! We have booked my time dining on Carnival for our cruise next year and hope it is handled as well on Carnival. The food was awesome.....our servers, Kleine and Julio were awesome. We have been on Carnival as often as RCCI and many say Carnival has better food...we didn't see that at all. It was great. Our waiter gave us something extra every night... and the dessert selection was amazing (Dessert selections were better than Carnival IMO) We felt obligated to eat it all and were stuffed every night! A wonderful dining experience.
