Week I'll never get back!

Sail Date: April 2010
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Embarkation- went fairly smooth. Maybe because MSC is a new line to FLL they got stuck with the old dirty terminal at the end of the pier.

Cabin was nice and well maintained by the cabin stewards. Only issue was with the card key slot which serves to turn on the lights in the cabin and to activate a small red light above the door for DO NOT Disturb feature. Our key was in the slot and twice the cabin steward walked right in.

Food was AWFUL! We are not picky eaters but found it hard to find anything on the buffet that looked good or had any flavor. For breakfast my adult daughter usually had cereal and fruit. The scrambled eggs were cold and runny. The only beverages available are pre poured ice water and ice tea in small juice glasses. To quench your thirst you would need to drink 4 glasses. The self-serve drink machines are covered with tarps. No cups available.

The pizza bar was hit or miss. (pizza with cheese and corn???) Pizza was offered until More 10:00pm in the buffet area. One night we got there about 9:57pm with several other passengers and they were pulling the pizza off the racks. I asked to get two pieces of pizza and the worker glared at me. The only decent food was dinner in the dining room. The food was filling, not fancy or gourmet. There was not a wide variety to choose from. One soup, two salads pretty standard. Our waiter was funny he did jokes with the napkins.

Staff and passengers (90% other than American) were unfriendly and rude. No "good morning", No smiles. Each morning we would give ourselves a pep talk "Today is going to be a better day. Smile and be friendly maybe it would rub off." But after about a hour in the public areas we would give up. This is our 9Th cruise and we have never spent so much time in our cabin before. The elevators are very small. They are suppose to hold up to 14 people but 6-8 people barely fit. As soon as the doors open more people would try to cram in even if you were trying to exit. PLEASE-THANK YOU-EXCUSE ME are an universal language.

The evenings shows were OK. The dancers did not really dance just pranced around as if beauty queen contestants. If they did try to dance they were not in sync. The acrobat teams were very good. The best show was the Michael Jackson Tribute and that was put on by the entertainment staff. The long haired Italian entertainment staffer was kind of creepy. We noticed he only danced with the young teenage girls 13-16 years of age. Parents beware. I could go on and on and on bottom line we will never cruise with MSC again. Less

Lots of storage, above some kind of service area loud noises early in the morning.
