Valet parking from the Tampa port is definitely the way to go. It's only $17 more (total for a week) than the regular parking fees. We pulled up, unloaded the car, had to wait about 15 minutes to pay for the valet parking, then went right in to have our carry-ons X-rayed. You're allowed 1 bottle of wine per adult guest, and we did carry on 2 very nice bottles. In the past you could carry on a bottle or 2 of water or juice, but this has completely been stopped (I'm sure due to everyone filling their containers with alcohol).

Fortunately, our upgrade to a suite allowed us "VIP" embarkation services, so we walked up the a private sitting area, bipassing a mile of cue line, sat down at a private desk, and were processed in under 5 minutes. As with all CCL(Carnival Cruise Line) vacations, you then have to wait in line to have your picture taken in front of a fake scene before being allowed on the ship (they're hoping you'll but the photo for $21.95 later on).

We made our way on board and were informed rooms would not be available for another hour, but we could go up to the Lido deck for a buffet lunch. The food was well done - a great variety including baked fish, salads, several ethnic dishes, and a grill for burgers, fries, etc.
