We just returned on April 9th from an 11 day cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Grand Cayman, Cartegena Colombia, Colon Panama, Port Limon Costa Rica, Roatan Honduras, and good 'ol Cozumel Mexico. This trip was a complete reversal of the very mediocre experience we had in early November in the Mediterranean on the Solstice.
Before I go on, we have sailed 8 times in the last 4 years, including Azamara and Regent..both of which were wonderful...and Carnival, which was a giant cattle car, and a short Viking River cruise in China, which on balance was OK. The new Equinox offers a higher quality, more rounded experience than any of our previous sailings. Food was EXCELLENT. (We ate in upscale, additonal $$ Tuscan Grille one evening and cancelled the other 3 reservations for upscale dining after tasting the main dining room efforts.)
Performers were above average, orchestra was the best we've ever heard at sea, AC throughout the ship was superb, non-drafty, and the cabins are well insulated against adjacent cabin noise. The staff never missed an opportunity to say "Hello" as we encountered them.
