Traveled with children

This was our 5th cruise as a family. My wife and I have been on some others without our kids. We were traveling with our friends as well - 5 total kids, 15, 12, 9, 8, and 6. Before departing we asked about the Crown and Anchor Society since we had each been on 2 RCL cruises about 18 - 20 years ago. We were told that they had no record of either of us, and to get credit we need to find a picture of ourselves with the ship. More trouble than it was worth. We have been on Carnival and NCL with our family in the past. I will not really compare with NCL, which was also with my parents and sister and her family, as we were not crazy about freestyle dining. We prefer having a set waiter and to acoid the aggravation of reservations.

Now for the cruise itself.

We left out of Galveston. Our driver from the airport to our hotel told us to wait until 3 or so to go to the cruise port to avoid lines. He was wrong. We went early and were on the ship by 11AM. We stayed at the Holiday Inn on the Beach - nice enough for one night. The ship was nice. I would rate it and the Carnival ships as close.
