No WOW Factor..!!!.....Azamara Cruise = Bland Cruise

Sail Date: March 2010
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

We are seasoned cruises and like the smaller ship size, but, feel Azamara has fallen short in providing a memorable experience......no real highlights in this 12 day cruise....it was a relaxing get-away and we met some nice people, however, definitely no reason to return to Azamara for future cruises, especially at the new higher priced "Le Club Voyage".

Our thoughts are that there is lots of competition and Azamara needs to wake-up or risk loosing market share....expect getting repeat cruisers to return to Azamara is a problem they are currently experiencing and this cruise line could go the way of the Dodo bird, unless they can somehow make each cruise something "special"...

SHIP - Journey - satisfactory at best...easy to observe that ship is getting tired and needs a good freshing-up - pool area grungy - tiles fallling out - workers cleaning with very smelly chemicals on sunny afternoons with pool area full is completely unacceptable - deck chairs - need to More clean / replace chair towels - smoking area should be designated "outside only" and NOT allowed in the 10th deck lounge

CRUISE DIRECTOR + MANAGER - they do a good TV gig, but are invisible on the ship. - seen only on rare occasions...should be out and about, mingling, participating in various events (other than bingo / trivia)....think they are afraid of the sun, as rarely seen on the outside decks - suggest they have outside activities (ping-pong / pool games etc)...may be an older crowd, but still like to participate or perhaps even watch some action around the pool

ENTERTAINMENT - good evening variety and rate 7 out of 10 - suggest ongoing daytime music poolside....mix of upbeat and tranquil....pretty quiet with only short music sets from time to time - we understand, contracts for live music bands are not being renewed as Azamara is replacing with music discs / ipod music to save $$$$....expect that won't go over too well !!

DINING (menu / atmosphere) - Main dining room - rate 6 out of 10 - Aqualina - rate 6 out of 10 - Prime - rate 7 out of 10 - Cafe / Breeza for evening dining - rate 9 out of 10 - good selection of food and great atmosphere... dining in the open air at rear of ship...this is a hidden jem...

ROOM (Oceanview) - adequate, nothing special - "butler" lady was exceptional and did provide the best service on the ship (Rosalea)

ITINERARY - highlight: St. Maarten's - airport beach, low flying planes landing so close you can almost touch them - lowlight - Guatemaula - very poor area; suggest they select another docking area or take this port off the intinerary....we heard nothing but bad things about this port

Hope this provides some insight to your future cruising travels.... Less
