Our Group This cruise was booked about 2 months ago as a reward for me (stay at home mom for the last 6 years) going back to work. More like a consolation prize, really. Accompanying me were my elderly father (age 88), my three kids (dd-12, ds-8, dd-3) and our neighbor friend who is 16.
Embarkation We arrived at port via taxi at about 11am. We were immediately greeted by a porter who took our bags and secured a wheelchair for my elderly father. I appreciated his helpful and cheerful attitude.
We went directly to the check in line, which was moving along quickly. There appeared to be ample staff and lots of people to direct us all to the proper line. My 88 year old father had not brought along his passport (or birth certificate)...he thought a copy would suffice. The check-in agent processed the rest of us and then walked us over to another desk where a supervisor would help us from there. The supervisor listened to our predicament and told us the "ship" would have the final say. She left for a while, then came back and told us there would be a bit of wait while the "ship" was reviewing the situation. After about five minutes, she came back to tell us that the "ship" had decided to allow my father aboard. PHEW! What a relief. I wish I would've noted the supervisor's name because she never made me or my dad feel bad for not remembered such a critical document. We were then escorted to the elevator by a staff member who pushed my dad's wheelchair. We missed the embarkation photo because of this. No biggee. Once at the ship, a crew member took over pushing my dad's wheelchair and we quickly navigated to the buffet for lunch. The crew member took the chair (which belonged to NCL) back for someone else to use. The whole process worked very well.
