We are avid cruises. This was our 8th cruise in 12 years, 4th on RCCL and 2nd time to the Bahamas on a cruise. We had the best time from start to finish.
Miami- If you have an opportunity to come a night before or after, I highly recommend spending at least a night in Miami. Great beaches and nightlife. We also had a wonderful Cuban dinner at Larios in South Beach- a restaurant owned by Gloria Estefan (sp?) and her husband. The Moijitos were awesome. We booked a hotel on Priceline that was about 50% less than what the cruiseline offered.
We booked transportation from Quality Limo Services from FLL to Miami and back at the end of the cruise. They were on the high side and service was hit or miss. I would suggest just hiring a cab when you arrive and there are plenty of transportation options at the port to go back to the airport. It was Springbreak and there were definitely cheaper options had we not alredy given a credit card on the reservation. I don't recommend this company due to price. It was more than double as we found out.
Our cabin was an inside cabin, mid ship and on hte 6th floor. We took a gamble and chose the any cabin rate and went from the 2nd floor price we paid and were upgraded to the 6th. Cabin is small, but for 2 people who mostly sleep there, it was fine. Our attendant was wonderful and discreet.
Food: We also enjoy RCCL food, so much that 5lbs were gained by both of us. They really should discourage you from ordering more than 1 dessert. Loved everything! Service was again outstanding. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. They would make suggestions and highlight what was going to happen each night and the next day.
Nassau: We did the sub adventure tour through the cruiseline activities staff. I researched Stuart's Cove a head of time and they charged about $15 less pp for this trip. The $15 was worth the convenience of being picked up and dropped off at the dock. What a great experience this was. We were underwater in personal scooter type subs at a depth of about 15 feet. It was a amazing and although a bit expensive, a once in a lifetime experience. We came back to the boat had lunch and then did a little shopping in downtown. I purchased a $25 shopping coupon book from the activities director and all of the free stuff more than paid for the book. I got all sorts of stuff free. It's kind of like an entertainment book for shopping and can used at several ports and on more than this one trip. After shopping we came back and had dinner. I recommend getting an early dining reservation, so you have time to do whatever after dinner. We went to Atlantis in the evening and had fun looking at all there is there. It was about $4 a person for the taxi.
CooCoo Cay: Nice relaxing Day. I would recommend sleeping in and having a leisurely breakfast and then when you head to the island, bring a book to sit on the beach and soak in the sun. They serve lunch on the island. There's plenty of food, so it would good to let the throngs eat and then eat when the throngs are gone. Take $ and the ship cards don't work for any of the shopping.
Key West: What a great little city. We did the nature kayak tour. Got to see some mangroves and a taste of the key west life. Went back and had lunch on the boat. Did a little more shopping. The coupon book came in handy again for lots of freebies. Definitely try Key Lime anything and fried conch.
Overall we had a great time on this cruise.
