Perhaps this was the perfect moment to cruise with the Journey: at the time when they upgraded their service to semi-luxury and before the price hike. In any case, our experience was dramatically better than what we expected from lukewarm reviews and ratings posted all over the web.
Fantastic: food in specialty restaurants, at $5 surcharge per person. We spent there almost every evening.
Great: crew, service, and the atmosphere they created. When Norwegian lost our luggage in the previous back-to-back cruise, they were extremely helpful to get it back. Food in the buffet and the main room. Cabins: not very spacious but very nicely organized and pleasant.
Ok: butler (= upgraded steward). Entertainment was ok to solid.
Not so good: excursions. The excursions director was funny and informative but the quality of some excursions was horrible. In Jamaica, the guide thought that we were on a different trip (I thought initially that she was joking). She was not prepared and did not know what to say. So she was singing songs etc. Azamara reimbursed us for this trip though.
