This was our first trip on Carnival, and we had a great time. Embarkation was a breeze, and we were one the ship by 11:30, having lunch in the Lido buffet. Our balcony cabin was wonderful, and our cabin steward was great. I had room service breakfast on the balcony each morning.

We were scheduled for late seating in the Scarlet Dining Room. We tried to change it to the early seating, because we were traveling with our 5-year-old son. We were told we would find out the next day if they could accomodate us. The service in the dining room the first night was not great. The next day, we found out they could not accomodate our request. We did go to formal night in the dining room that night, but again, we were unimpressed with the service. For example, they brought the gravy around well after the prime rib had been served -- my husband had already finished eating it! At that point, because my son was falling asleep at dinner, we decided we were done with the dining room. The rest of our meals we ate in the Lido buffet. The food there was very good, and there were lots of options, including a pasta bar, an Indian bar, a Wok bar, etc. My husband loved the pizza, and my son ate ice cream at least twice a day.

The first port was Nassau, Bahamas. We didn't plan an excursion, and we just got off and walked around. We weren't impressed, so we got back on the ship. We had purchased the Spa package, and we thoroughly enjoyed the spa throughout the trip. I got a massage and facial, and spent some time each day enjoying the Thallasotherapy pool and the steam rooms. Carnival has really done a great job with the spa on this ship; however, they told us that we would only be able to purchase the spa package on the first day, and that they were only selling 40 packages. We found out later in the week, that they were still selling one and two-day packages. I was a little annoyed by that. I also took several classes, including Pilates and Yoga, and they were very good. The gym was great; however, they really need to turn up the air conditioning.
